Welcome!

This space is dedicated to Authentic Aging. Specifically, my authentic aging, whereby I write about what is important to me.

My name is Ann Marie (surnames varied: Weedmark, Kish and Gilroy). Many years ago my first spouse, Jim, and I founded The Spirit of Bothwell newspaper, a weekly paper dedicated to things important to the people in and around our small community. This experience helped me see how sharing news, events and opinions are an important part of life–for both writer and reader. With this in mind I jump back into the fray without the deadlines and need for ad sales, and, sadly, without Jim. (More about that later.)

My posts are about my experiences, all of which now inform this process of aging. As I sort thorough 64 years life experience my goal is to understand who I was and how that informs who I am now.

I do know many years of my life were spent doing what I was supposed to, or what I thought I was supposed to do. Consequently I, like many others, feel like I may have lost myself in the process. Now I have the time and space to think about doing what really matters to me now, and how to meaningfully spend the remaining years of my life. So I’m happy to have you along to comment, hang out, question or simply laugh as I sort through my life and embrace my spirit of aging.
